Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET) 2010 Entrance Exam

The education department, govt of Gujarat vide govt resolution no. PVSH-102002- 2464-S dt 28-7-2005 and GR of even number dt 12-1-2006 has decided to conduct common entrance test for admissions to degree engineering, diploma/degree pharmacy as well as medical course after std XII science stream. The Gujarat secondary and higher secondary education board has been assigned to hold the common entrance test. This year the board will hold Gujarat common entrance test 2010 (GUJCET 2010) on 8th April, 2010 (Thursday). The Board has prepared an Information booklet and application form for GUJCET 2010. The Booklet and application forms for common entrance test will be available on payment of Rs 250/- by demand draft from nationalized bank payable at Ahmedabad in favour of secretary,Gujarat common entrance test cell, Gandhinagar from the following distribution centers during the time and date prescribed below:

Eligibility of Candidates for GUJCET: Candidates who have passed Higher secondary certificate examination science stream conducted by the Gujarat secondary and higher secondary education board, Gandhinagar or the candidates who have filled in application form for appearing and eligible for appearing in the examination of std. XII science stream/ candidates going to appear in examination of std. XII science stream in the very year in which the candidate has filled in application form for common entrance test.

Candidates who have passed std. XII science stream examination conducted by the Central Board of secondary education, New Delhi through the recognized school situated in the state of Gujarat or the candidates who have filled in application form for appearing in the examination of std. XII science stream through recognized school/candidates going to appear in examination of std. XII science stream in the very year in which the candidates have filled in application form for common entrance test.Candidates who have passed std. XII science stream examination conducted by the council for the Indian school certificate examination, New Delhi through the recognized school situated in the state of Gujarat or the candidates who have filled in application form for appearing in the examination of std. XII science stream through recognized school/candidates going to appear in examination of std. XII science stream in the very year in which the candidates have filled in application form for common entrance test.Candidates who are the heirs of the officers/employees who are basically from the state of Gujarat but performing their duties in other states as the officers/ employees of Central/state government, Military Forces or the Board/Corporation governed by the Central/state government, who have passed std. XII science streamexamination conducted by the Higher secondary education board situated in the state in which they are performing duties or the candidates who have filled in application form for appearing in the examination of std. XII science stream or the candidates going to appear in examination of std. Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting Smt. Ambika releases Bharat 2010 and India 2010

The Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting Smt. Ambika Soni today released INDIA 2010 AND BHARAT 2010, the comprehensive reference annual. While unveiling the 54th edition of INDIA Annual, the Minister urged that every possible effort should be made to ensure wider reach of the compendium. Smt. Soni said that unless information about the Government of India schemes reaches every citizen of this country, the work of media units of the Ministry remains unfinished. The Minister also advised that to make the publication effort more meaningful, proper translation in all constitutional languages should be made available in the educational institutions particularly.

The publication is a useful ready reckoner for students and civil services aspirants. The book containing over 1200 pages of authentic and up-to-date information on various aspects of our national life is a rich source of information on India’s economy, polity, demography, land and people, health, defence, art & culture, flora and fauna, scientific advancements, constitutional amendments etc. It also incorporates sections on Education, Information Technology and Current Affairs. This 54th edition of the reference annual has also covered most contemporary topics like climate change, exploration & conservation of biosphere reserves, Akshay Urja (renewable energy) and sustainable development, the MIS scheme for monitoring and evaluation of government programmes, nuclear power programme, AIDS and cancer control programmes, immunization, recent economic upheaval etc.

GUJCET and CBSE Exams Clash, Both on April 8

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) students in the state, who have opted for fine arts subject in class 12 science stream, will not be able to appear for Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET) due to clash of dates. Both exam dates have been fixed on April 8.

“Both exams are important and mandatory for students, who are looking for a career in medicine or pharmacy after their 12th board,” said Tina Karbhari, parent of Aashna.

GUJCET exams which are held on April 15 every year is being held on April 8 this time. “We called GUJCET exam secretary DS Patel, asking him to guide us in forwarding our complaint. But, he was rude and instead asked me to write to CBSE board or meet up officials in Gandhinagar Sachivalaya. I asked him for a suggestion, but the call was abruptly disconnected,” Rupa Parikh, whose daughter Rujuta is studying in Navrachana School, said.

“It’s mentioned in GUJCET booklet that CBSE students will have to take the test to seek admission in professional courses. They should then decide on the date that does not clash with board exams schedule. I have sent an application to the GUJCET authorities and all the parents are also going to write to CBSE board,” added Parikh.

3 Year Degree courses (MD/MS): General Medicine, General Surgery, Anaesthesiology, Radio-diagnosis, Community Medicine, Obst. & Gynecology,Pediatrics, ENT, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Dermatology Venereology & Leprosy, TB & Respiratory Diseases, Pathology,Microbiology, Pharmacology and *Biochemistry ( *subject to MCI clearance).

2 Year Diploma Courses: Anaesthesiology, Radio-diagnosis, Public Health, Industrial Hygiene, Obst. & Gynecology, Pediatrics, ENT, Orthopedics,Ophthalmology, Pathology, Dermatology Venereology & Leprosy, TB & Respiratory Diseases, Microbiology.

2 Year M.Sc. (Medical) Courses: Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Microbiology.

Application procedure :
Prospectus along with application forms can be obtained from Dean’s Office, in person or by post on payment of Rs. 2000/- in cash or demand draft drawn in the name of “Charutar Arogya Mandal(PG)” payable on any nationalised bank at Anand. Application form can also be downloaded from the above website and submitted alongwith the prescribed fee of Rs.2000/-. Recognition status ofcourses offered are available in the prospectus and MCI website.
